Adobe Photoshop For the front and back of my postcard, I chose a red and yellow color scheme to reflect the significant Vietnamese population in Dorchester. (The Vietnamese flag I grew up with features a red background and a yellow star in the center.) The grits, grains, and rips on the postcard symbolize how Dorchester might appear to outsiders: rough around the edges, run-down, and unsafe. However, for those who live in or frequently visit Dorchester, it’s clear the neighborhood is rich in spirit, history, and culture, nurtured by the diverse communities that call it home. Dorchester is truly a melting pot of identities.
The photo on the front of the postcard depicts the now-closed Anh Hong Restaurant in Fields Corner. I visited this establishment many times before its closure, and it holds a special place in my memory.
